Four Squared

I have not had a vacation this summer:  I have been painting every day.  I was invited to be in an exhibition called FourSquared at Arc Studios & Gallery in San Francisco, in which sixteen artists show sixteen paintings each. Arc is an ambitious and focused venture, committed to professionally presenting local art, and I jumped at the chance!  It has been a great motivator to produce and get in the flow, which is just great for the work even if it can be a little stressful.  The sneak peek you see here is cropped images of paintings I'm still working on finishing up before the big day.

FourSquared
At Arc Studios & Gallery
1246 Folsom Street (between 8th & 9th)
San Francisco
Opening Saturday August 25, 7 - 10pm
And open Wednesdays & Thursdays 12 - 5pm and Saturdays 12 - 3pm during exhibitions, through September 26, 2012

(I don't know if I can promise you coffee but Vega Blue Bottle is also in the building and they are supposed to be open until 5 on weekdays and 10 - 3 on Saturdays - because that would make your visit even more exciting).

Big news!

I have a new studio, and am currently fixing it up to move into in about a month.  It's one of a row of former stables, barn doors and all, in a hundred-year-old complex!  I always wanted one of these spaces, and really set my intentions to make it happen.  For me that means not just wishing or visualizing, but being willing to put up with all the crap that will come with it!  Because everything, no matter how good, has its downside, and there will be stress or hard work.  Hopefully, that part is going to be over soon.
I'll post more photos of the studio when it's completed, and have registered with ArtSpan for Open Studios at the new location.

INTRODUCTIONS 2012

"This year ArtZone 461 organized its first search by juried competition for Introductions 2012 Artists. We held our last Introductions show in 2010 and today continue to work with fine painters from that show.

"The goal of Introductions is to present examples of works from both emerging and established painters that are at the same time diverse and individual as they are cohesive, complimentary and contemporary.  Five artists captured the attention of our distinguished Jurors and won their place in this exhibition: Lynette Cook, James Edmonds, Lara Hoke, Hadley Northrop, and Elena Zolotnitsky.  The Gallery also invited the artists that received honorable mention to contribute a work for the show so all top 10 artists are represented. They are: Amanda Bereny, Heather Capen, Diana Lee, Sonja Navin, and Deborah Stenberg-Service.

"ArtZone is pleased to present a talented new group of painters whom we see as having successful careers ahead of them and a great fit with our current stable of accomplished artists.  Please join us for a public artists reception Saturday March 10th 5-8 pm."
