Evicted again

The space where I have painted for the last 3 years is a group studio in a warehouse in the Duboce Triangle. There are actually two identical buildings side by side, the other being an extremely dramatic residence. This year the whole lot was sold, and the new owner lives next door. Now he has plans for our building, and my little studio is first on the chopping block for an owner move-in. I'm heartbroken. I know my space is rough and small, but it's the best I've ever had - I love the location, and the other artists at our studio are talented AND nice people. I don't know what I'm going to do. Here are a couple images of my studio and our shared gallery from October's Open Studios.

My newest paintings

I showed these for Open Studios in our studio's gallery. And we were just at Day of the Dead again, so I took some more photos that I hope will work well as paintings.

"Child at Day of the Dead" 2008 oil on canvas 20 x 20 in.

"Day of the Dead Altar" 2008 oil on canvas 24 x 36 in.

"Day of the Dead" 2008 oil on linen 48 x 36 in. sold

One of my favorite old figure drawings, from back when we used to have a model every week at the Art Explosion studios. I wanted to save it before it fades & browns away to nothing, like a cassette being erased by the earth's magnetic core. . .

Quick sketch of the costume and fashion designer Kathleen Crowley in her studio. She's a foot taller than me and it makes her look heroic. She's my hero!

That was me who said that!
But, inspired by creative friends' blogs that I really do visit (and not knowing how to update my website) I thought I would see if I can make something that looks good, and helps my work get seen.
